The Venezuela Fetish

Before any accusation is thrown at me, let me say I am a democrat (nothing to do with US politics…), both in my relationship with the world and in my political preferences.

During the period in which we were living the electoral climate here in Brazil, the presidential race between Lula da Silva and Bolsonaro, I was amazed by the fact that, whenever I constructed a criticism of the latter of the candidates, someone would answer: “and what about Venezuela?!"

The ideia of a “Venezuela Fetish” occurred to me then.
